textured retreat

Set in the Westhaven community of Franklin, TN, this basement remodel was all about creating a space that felt less like a basement, and more like an intentional retreat for guests and extended family. The vision was clear: work with what we have, keep things neutral, and let texture carry the weight. (We joked often that their favorite color was texture — and it shows.)

Using their existing bed and dresser as the foundation, we reimagined the guest bedroom and bathroom from the ground up. A feature wall adds dimension behind the bed, while the bathroom tile might just be one of my all-time favorites. The entire suite was designed to feel timeless and inviting, a calm, thoughtful space for family and friends to truly feel at home. This was one of those dream collaborations where trust ran high. I designed to their budget and vision, and they let me run with it. It’s a beautiful example of how a space doesn’t have to be fully gutted to feel completely transformed.
